İstanbul’u, New York’u ve belki seni seviyorum, ama aslında bu şehirlerden hiçbirine gitmedim ve seni de tanımıyorum. Hong Kong’a gitmişsin, sevdim bunu. Dostun bana savaşma seviş diyor ve tamamen yanlış anlaşıldım gibime geliyor. Ayrıca elektrik santrallerine ve nasyonalizme de karsiyim, buna karşın Bukowski’yi severim, ama o ifadeler şu anda çamaşırhanede.
İnsanlar durmadan kendilerini anlatıyorlar: tercihlerini, en sevdikleri şeyleri, dünya görüşlerini ve inançlarını veya espri anlayışlarını. Bu itiraflar, tekstille kaplı göğüslerde, fermuarla ve düğmeyle kapanmamış o bomboş alana kazılmış olarak sokaklarda dolaşıyor. Her ne kadar trend oluşturmanın ve bu trendlerin etkisine açık olsalar da, artık tişörtler, bir moda unsuru olmaktan çok öteye geçti. Bu giysi parçası politik görüşlerin, kültürel ilgi alanlarını ve toplumsal hareketleri açıkça ifade etmenin bir aracı haline geldi. Belli bir arkadaş grubuna bir sosyal girişime ait olma ihtiyacını, ama aynı zamanda siktir git modunda bir toptan inkarı da dile getiriyor. Rengarenk baskılarla göze batan pozisyonların görüldüğü trazıyla bekarlara adapte edilen tişört artık sahibinin kimliğini belirleyen bir kitle ürünü oldu.
Pop kültürünün bir ikonu ve kolektif bir hafızanın imaj taşıyıcısı olarak tişört sadece nostaljiyi, uygunsuzları veya sosyal aidiyet veya sınıflandırma çabasını tarif etmekle kalmıyor, aynı zamanda çeşitli düşünce, fikir ve görüşlerin kamusal alanda fırtına gibi estiği dönemlerde de ifade özgürlüğü stratejilerini tanımlıyor.
Heyday projesi sokak kültüründen doğan ve sergi alanında gelişen bir sanat ortamı olarak tişörtü mercek altına alıyor.

I love Istanbul, New York, maybe you, but actually I have never been to any of those places and also I don't know you. You have been to HongKong and I like that. Your friend tells me to make peace, not war and I feel completely misunderstood. I am also against power plants and nationalism, while I like Bukowsky, but those statements are in the laundry right now.
People are constantly communicating themselves: their preferences, their favorites, their world views and convictions or their sense of humor. On the unbuttoned and unzipped free space right on the textile chest these confessions are walking around in the streets. T-shirts have become more than a fashion item, even if they are subjected to trends as well as setting them. This piece of cloth is a tool for the open expression of political beliefs, cultural interests, and social movements. It expresses the need to belong to a peer group, a social collective and at the same time its total denial in a fuck you mode. Adapted to the single one via multicolored prints in prominent positions the t-shirt is a mass product that shapes the identity of the owner.
As an icon of pop culture as well as image carrier of a collective memory, it not only describes nostalgia, misfits, or the effort of social belonging and classification, but also strategies of the expression of freedom of speech, when thoughts, ideas, and views storm the public space.
The Heyday project investigates the t-shirt as an artistic medium that develops throughout street culture and exhibition space.

Nisan ayında ilk sunumu 5533'de gerçekleştirilen “Üretebilmek Üzerine”, Amsterdam ve Los Angeles'taki sergilerden sonra, sanatçıların yeni işleriyle Apartman Projesi'ne konuk oluyor. Ağustos ayında “New Talents” Köln'e davet edilen sergi, 2008 sonbaharında Berlin Dükkanı projesiyle Almanya'ya taşınacak.
“Üretebilmek Üzerine” İstanbul’u çıkış noktası olarak alan ve süreç içinde farklı mekanlarda, yeni sanatçıların ve üretimlerinin sunumlarıyla gelişen uluslararası bir grup sergisidir. Proje; ürün, üretim ve bu faktörlerin toplumdaki yeri üzerine bir inceleme yapma arzusundan kaynaklandı. Proje için İstanbul'a davet ettiğimiz sanatçılar; yerel üreticilerle çalışarak, üretim şartlarına atıfta bulunan, buradaki durumu yansıtan ve üretim sürecinin küresel boyutuna değinen yeni işler ürettiler.
Üretim süreci, AB ülkeleri gibi hizmet toplumu ülkelerde, şehrin yaşamından neredeyse tamamen dışlanmışken, İstanbul'da günlük hayatın önemli dinamiklerinden biri. Bu ülkelerde sunulan ürünlerin çoğu, farklı coğrafyalarda üretilip ithal edilirken, İstanbul'da ise bu kaynaklar ulaşılabilir ve şeffaf. Bu özellikleriyle Türkiye, dünya endüstrisi bağlamında Avrupa'da tercih edilen üretim merkezlerinden biri olarak adlandırılabilirken, parametreler gittikçe üretime dayalı bir toplumdan, büyük alışveriş merkezlerinin, tek tipleştirilmiş uluslararası markaların baskısı altında tüketime dayalı bir topluma doğru kayıyor. Bu değişimin hızı aynı zamanda çok canlı bir ortam yaratıyor. Bu projedeki ilgi alanımız, toplumun içinde bulunduğu dönüşümü temsil eden ürünleri gözlemlemek, anlamak ve sanatçılar aracılığıyla müdahelede bulunmak.

With its displays in Istanbul at 5533, Amsterdam and Los Angeles “On Produceability” has developed; new works have been produced that we are happy to present in Apartman Projesi, Istanbul. The project is invited to “New Talents” show in Cologne in August and it will be displayed under the name as Berlin Store in autumn 2008 in Germany.
"On Produceability" is an internationally composed and organised groupshow that has its starting point in Istanbul and travels and develops throughout international venues. The project is all about products, production and their placement in society. We invite artists to Istanbul to reflect on and refer to local conditions and global dimensions of production by creating new artworks. With their travel to Istanbul the artists have the possibility and opportunity to use the huge number of large and small manufacturing places. For their artistic purpose they can use this transparency of
production and take advantage of it.
In Istanbul the steps of the production processes are often located in the immediate neighbourhood and become transparent and accessible. They are not externalised like in most service societies like Germany or other EU countries. Manufacturing is still part of the everyday life. While Turkey is a preferred production location of Europe in the context of world industry the parameters are shifting from a production based to a consumption oriented society with overwhelming shopping malls and standardised franchise companies. The rapidity and the simultaneousness of this development creates a situation that is highly vibrant. Our interest is to observe, understand and interfere this state of society being in transission represented by its products.
